                           Portrait  Research  Douglas Gorden For my portrait idea, I have been thinking of ways to change and distort the face. so I thought about using tape to create an ugly image of ourselves as these images are ones people wouldn't like to show due to the media showing us what beautiful is. I then look at this book called (Face the new photographic portrait) which helped me a lot with this project and saw Douglas Gorden's work. He used tape in his double portrait work. one of the images is just him an ordinary man and the other is taped up like a monster. The reason why he wanted these two images to go together is because he wanted to show split personalities and that people have a side they might not want people to know about. I liked how he has distorted the face drastically, whereas I felt that the tape wasn't sticking enough when I did it ...

Today I created a little studio space in my Kitchen. I used a projector screen, a disco ball and a tripod. I got people to do 3 Seconds and then move, like I did on the first shoot for this idea. I Decided to use the disco ball to hight some of the movement people was doing and also the idea the light moves with time.  Here are most of the images...                                                     I feel that is shoot was Successful as I took a few shots that I was happy with. My 2nd ideas is more about someones movement within a photo and how time can be Captured in a Photograph. One of my Favourites types of photo I like to take is long light Exposure as it some where the light has Travelled and it makes you think about how long was the shutter speed open for. I am also very interested In time and how Confusing and misleading it can be and how do you Capture time. so I started to take photos of people moving with the shutter speed open for about 15 Seconds. I also used the blue flash light in some of the photos to see if it shows a more Interesting effect.                                                                                                              ...

As I have a few ideas for portrait I thought that I should start with this one as I was Interested on how it will turn out. I wanted to get portraits of people with a Distorted face as you don't normally see many people taking photos of them self in a oddly way as I feel that the media has made people more Self-conscious of their appearances. So i thought about using tape around the face to change there Appearance. I got this idea from looking at the book (Face: The New Photographic Portrait) and the artist I look at was Douglas Gordon.        I then thought about light and wondered if I used a different coloured flash light if the tape would Reflect. which it did but i was unsure as i feel in some images it made it Graeny. Also the Sellotape didnt stick on the face for long so i thought about using duck tape which worked better but with the sellotape as it was clear you could see how the tape moved your face and change the Appearance. where as with the ...

The ideas that I want to try out  Idea one - The idea of when we take a photo of ourselves we prepare to look good or have the need to make ourself look attractive and i wanted to do the opposite of that and kind of create a photo that shows that Beauty does not Define us. I also wanted to distort the face in some way. so I thought about using tape to do that. Ideas two -I then thought about how time and movement can be Captured within a Photograph. I am also very interested In time and how Confusing and misleading it can be and how do you Capture time. so I started to take photos of people moving with the shutter speed open for about 1/2 to about 5 Seconds. I also used the blue flash light in some of the photos to see if it shows a more Interesting effect Little experriments  Here are some experiments that I did just to get started on .

Today we had the task of going and taking a photo of strangers, which I found challenging as I wouldn't Normally talk to Strangers let alone take their photograph. I did take photos of people I know but only just to get Comfortable with taking a portrait of someone. I did think about the lighting in these photos as I did move the models in different angles to get the best of the light. Here are some of the photos... My favourites                                                                             These images that I have taken are very traditional style of portrait which I never really do as I always think about the alternative of doing something. I thought about maybe doing this style of portrait as a starting point .

Sally Mann Immediate Family Series   The photographer I chose to research is Sally Mann, I find her work Beautiful and show the Natural ways of life and death and, the world surrounding her. The series of photos that I really like of hers was immediate family which created a lot of controversy as she took a lot of photos of her children naked which people thought were pornographic. Most of her photos are black and white films The First image that Caught my attention was a photo of her daughter holding a cigarette (which is fake but it's not clear enough to know that it's fake). In the photo, the girl who is so young and Innocent but holding something that is Disturbing for a child to hold and the Fact she is holding it in such a mature way shows us how children mock and imitates Adults.      The Second Image that Caught my attention Was this one.
