Upcycling

Our first task of DFSA was upcycling, which was to get into a group of 3 or 4 and only spent £3 on this project. Then we looked at most of the charity shops as we all knew that this was the only way to stay within Budget.we did ask if the charity shops had any stuff that they couldn't sell that we could get for free but most of them said to come back later. As we walked around the charity shops we all kept picking up vinyl's so we thought maybe we could add that to an idea. we also were interested in a soundtrack DVD of the film Lost In Translation and in the charity shop that has all the old cameras we sore some positive of film of Hong Kong at night which was soo small to see but, I really like how you needed to look really close to see the full details of the picture. we then thought about if everyone makes an idea and then we can combine them together and then add things as we go along if we need to.

                                                         Ideas

These are some of the ideas that we came up with. We Preferred the idea of hanging off the ceiling We then thought about the concept and how we are at university and that different cultures come together. so we bought a vinyl that had London on it and we also bought the positive film of Hong Kong at night to show to different cities and cultures. the last thing we got was the soundtrack DVD of the film Lost In Translation to represent that we can come together even though there maybe a language barrier. we like how it looked like a baby's mobile as it represents home and Memroires of childhood.

                                      The Final Piece

Then we thought about if the light would show the film stills on the all some of them did but only if you put the film close to the wall. I liked how it moved and the shadow effect it had and how the DVD That reflexed I remind me of an installation that I saw at Tate modern ( Olafur Eliasson -Yellow versus Purple)

  1. This was an accomplished piece of work - and shows how valuable the meeting of minds and the fusion of ideas can be. A great omen for future group work!
