Poem 1 Pro Tools

 poem 1

when I got the brief I thought that I was going to find it easy, to choose a passage from a piece of text and create 30-60 sec soundscape. but it was a lot harder to find a piece of text that I really was into and could think of how it would sound. I started to look at short stories which then moved me on to poems. As I was looking at poems i remembered a poem i used to read when I was little. It was a poem by Alfred Noyes called The Highwayman. The only problem would be that i would need to cut the poem down which i didn't want to do as it wouldn't tell the hole story. so I then looked at another poem called The wicked path of destiny by Joseph.

my list of sounds

- walking
-something tearing (paper)
-snapping (hair)
-creaky noise
- war sounds ( fireworks, airsoft gun, shouting, screams)
- glob spinning
- crying
-stabing sounds
- children screaming
- sounds of different Creatures
-street sounds
-whispering sounds
- water balloon
-banging sounds

I recoded most of my sound on the Roland R-05 as it is easy to carry around
but i did do some recodings on the Zoom H4. I made sure that I kept note of what sound was what. i did have a problem when the SD card was full and I had to re name the files to match up from were i left off but i got there in the end .

Editing

As i was editing this poem i just wasn't feeling it so i kept putting it off. I think that in parts of the poem i didnt know what kind of sound i wanted. so while I was editing i was also looking at other poems or text that was interesting.

As I was stuck on what to do I was playing around with pitch shift and changing the narrators voice making it deeper and also in a part of the poem it talks about a Creature so i was trying to Figure out what noise would the creature would sound like.
